Government Job Losses are Mostly at the Community Level

Among the job losses we’ve been seeing over the past few years, government jobs seem to be taking one of the hardest hits—though not where they should be, perhaps. Rather than cutting politician pay, aides, and other red tape jobs, it’s the ones in our communities that seem to be cut the most.
Take South Carolina, for example. The state has lost nearly 15,000 education jobs within the past year, but most were in the education sector. Perhaps if more cuts were made on wasteful spending and politician expenditures, we could lower the slowly dropping unemployment rates much more quickly—and prevent many jobs from being cut in the first place.
